It's Boo Time at the Santa Ana Zoo!
OC's Premier Halloween Event for Kids

Get your reservations, grab your costumes, and join us for our annual "merry not scary" Boo at the Zoo, OC's Premier Halloween Event for Kids.

The Friends of Santa Ana Zoo present the 34th Annual Boo at the Zoo located at the Santa Ana Zoo. The event will take place from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on Saturday, Oct. 19, Sunday Oct. 20, Saturday, Oct. 26 and Sunday Oct. 27.

Boo at the Zoo is one of Orange County's longest-running Halloween events, providing a fun, safe, and family-friendly event for trick-or-treaters and children of all ages who love to wear costumes and embrace the Halloween spirit!

Guests will have the opportunity to explore 10 prize stations on our Trick-or-Treat Trail, enjoy a variety of Halloween-themed games and activities - including storytelling and sing-alongs, and visit with our nocturnal animals. The Zoo supports the OC Teal Pumpkin Project, ensuring kids with food allergies are presented with friendly treats and takeaways!

Our exciting "Boofari" Express Train, Conservation Carrousel and Fifty Monkey Ferris Wheel rides will be entertaining little ghouls and goblins all night long. "Spooky Search" games & prizes will be available as an add-on purchase in the Gift Shop.

Parents, don't forget your cameras! Boo at the Zoo will provide great photo opportunities to last a lifetime! FREE photo ops available, with one grand photo op at the Exit!

Animal lovers age 21 and up can sip an IPA while watching a PIG on Zoo grounds at this exclusive after-hour event. Each guest will receive a commemorative glass to enjoy a unique variety of craft beverages and unlimited 4 oz. pours, while supplies last, from the following breweries: There Does Not Exist, MachineHead, Third Window, Everywhere, The Bruery, Radiant, Gunwhale, Bearded Tang, Cerveza Cito, Santa Ana River, Honey Pot Meadery, Stereo, Station Craft, Congregation, Left Coast, and more in the works. Brew at the Zoo merchandise will be for sale. Animal encounters, the beautiful butterfly habitat "Flight!" and enjoyable music complement the lineup. Ginas Crepes and Waffles, Tacos Gutierrez, Bread Hot Chicken, and Churros Los Cuates will have food for sale. Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken will generously provide complimentary morsels.

Tickets are going fast and can be purchased on the Zoo's Website until sold out or event start. Prices are $65 each for Santa Ana Residents & Santa Ana Zoo Members and $75 each for non-members. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent the law allows. Admission is for adults 21 and up only. Photo ID and ticket verification are required upon entry. Parking is free but limited, and rideshare is highly recommended.

Santa Ana ZOO Welcomes Community to Annual Birthday Bash
Local Neighborhood Zoo to Celebrate 71st Birthday
Sunday, March 19th from 11am – 2 pm

The Santa Ana Zoo, "The Monkey Zoo," announced today that its 71st birthday celebration will take place Sunday, March 19th on the Zoo grounds from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. "You came as a kid, now come back with yours!" Parking and the event activities are included in the cost of general admission. Zoo Members and children under age 3 are FREE.

Did you know that multiple animals at the Zoo were born in the month of March? Guests will love searching the Zoo for these special party animals and writing birthday greetings to their new friends! Look for giant anteaters, camels, lemurs, ocelots, sloths and the Zoo’s famous monkeys!

During the event, birthday guests will love visiting the Crean Family Farm and the “Flight” Butterfly Habitat. Zoofari Express Train Ride, Conservation Carrousel and Fifty Monkey Ferris Wheel tickets are available for an additional cost. Children under 3 are free to ride with a paid adult on all three rides. The Zoo’s conservation friendly playground and multiple picnic areas are also open to guests at no additional charge.

The Friends of Santa Ana Zoo (FOSAZ), a non-profit organization, is pleased to announce its 30th annual gala fundraising event, "Starry Starry Zoofari," taking place Saturday, August 20, from 5:30 pm to 11 pm at the Santa Ana Zoo in Prentice Park, located at 1801 East Chestnut Avenue in Santa Ana. Emmy Award winner, Meteorologist and sportscaster for the KTLA 5 Morning News Henry DiCarlo will serve as emcee and auctioneer for the evening. Throughout the fundraiser guests are welcome to bid on wonderful trips, unique baskets, artwork and one-of-a-kind gifts during the event's live and silent auctions.

Butterflies Take Flight
Live Butterfly Experience Opens at Santa Ana Zoo At Prentice Park.

The City of Santa Ana is pleased to announce Flight – A Live Butterfly Experience is now open at the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park. Immerse yourself in the movement, beauty, and color of hundreds of tropical butterflies in the Flight aviary. Study the butterfly life cycle in the emergence chamber and learn about these amazing, winged wonders through educational signage. Take incredible photos and maybe even make a friend or two if the butterflies land on you. This outdoor experience is included with Zoo admission, and subject to capacity limits.

"We are always looking to connect the community to nature, and this is a new experience, never before offered at the Zoo," Zoo Manager Ethan Fisher said. "Visitors will love seeing the beautiful butterflies and learning about the steps they can take to help native pollinators thrive in our backyard."

The 2,000-plus-square-foot aviary is lushly planted with pollinator-attracting flowers and filled with dozens of species of butterflies from, Central, South, and North America. New butterflies emerge daily, and we encourage visitor to consider membership so they can visit multiple times. Guests may want to wear bright colors to attract the butterflies. This new experience will run through the end of September and return in Spring 2023.

Santa Ana Zoo Sunsets At The Zoo After Hours 2022
OC Residents Get Ready to Swing into Summer with Some Amazing Musical Talent! June 26 & July 10 at 5:30 pm

The Santa Ana Zoo’s after-hours "Sunsets at the Zoo" are back by popular demand. The Zoo's after-hours summer concerts will take place Sunday, June 26 and Sunday, July 10 at 5:30 pm. Tickets must be purchased online at www.fosaz.org in advance. Ticket numbers are limited for each night.

In addition to enjoying live music from local artists and bands under the California sky, Sunsets at the Zoo offers a unique, after-hours experience to see the animal residents prepare for their evening activities. Zoo members and guests are encouraged to bring their cameras, pack a picnic at the outdoor concert in the Amphitheatre. All proceeds raised this year will go towards upgrading the primate habitats at the Zoo!

40th Annual Fascination of Orchids International Show and Sale to be held at Santa Ana Zoo

Known as one of the world's most exotic flowers, guests of all ages will enjoy the beauty and grace of this resplendent flora. The wildly popular Fascination of Orchids Show, now in its 40th year, will be hosted at the Santa Ana Zoo on September 25th and 26th, 2021 from 10am – 5pm. The event will immerse visitors in the world of orchids through beautiful displays, educational seminars, and a vendor area. The event is free with zoo admission.

Be dazzled by the beauty and fragrances of the blossoms, learn about the unique life history of orchids, and maybe even take home a plant or two. The show is presented in partnership between the Santa Ana Zoo and volunteers from local orchid societies. Local orchid experts will be on-hand presenting educational demonstrations throughout the day like repotting and mounting orchids on trees or rocks.

Just as the animals living at the Santa Ana Zoo come from varied environments and habitats, so too do the trees and plants that comprise the Zoo’s urban forest. It is made up of more than 100 species of trees, including an Argentinean Ombú tree, African fever tree and massive Moreton Bay Fig, which can reach over 150 feet in diameter. Signage throughout the Zoo highlights such notable specimens, and a visitor’s botanical guide is available for interested guests.

OC's Premier Halloween Event for Kids "A Passive Walk-Through Limited Experience" Modified for 2020

Get your reservations, grab your costumes, and join us for our annual "merry not scary" Boo at the Zoo, OC's Premier Halloween Event for Kids. One of the county's favorite family-friendly Halloween events is happening! It will look different this year due to the current restrictions but will still bring smiles to everyone's covered faces. Boo 2020 is a passive, safe, walk-through experience featuring a fun Halloween trail through the Zoo during extended admission hours.

The Friends of Santa Ana Zoo present the 30th Annual Boo at the Zoo located at the Santa Ana Zoo. The event will take place with timed tickets at 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM on Wednesday, Oct. 28, Thursday Oct. 29, Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday Oct. 31: 5:30-7:30 PM.

Guests will discover "merry, not scary" decorations along the way, making this an activity the whole family can enjoy together, wearing family-friendly costumes and collecting goody bags for each child on the way out.

Limited timed and dated tickets must be purchased online at www.fosaz.org in advance. This year's modified Boo's General Admission is $15 per non-member ages 3 and up, and only $10 per Zoo Member ages 3 and up. Bonus: Children under the age of 3 are free. Zoofari 2020 "Treasure Island Adventure"

The Friends of Santa Ana Zoo (FOSAZ), a non-profit organization, will celebrate their 28th annual Zoofari fundraising event virtually this year. Zoofari has become the Zoo's flagship event and without a black-tie gala, the Zoo needs to raise funds more than ever to sustain operations while the gates remain closed to the public. "Log on from your phone, laptop or home computer for the best-ever Zoofari Fundraising Online Auction on the sparkling electric waves of the internet. You can bid for exclusive VIP behind-the-scenes animal adventures at the Zoo, bountiful baskets of fun and joy, and spectacular jewels and treasures, while enjoying a comfy time at home," entreats Cathi Decker, FOSAZ Executive Director.

The virtual Zoofari auction will raise funds for Zoo support and the primate forest. Guests are asked to stay safe and healthy at home and instead of spending on dress attire and the catered dinner, donate those funds by bidding directly on the impressive list of auction treasures. There is also a Fund A Need page for the "Livestock Limo" and a secure way to donate directly to the Zoo for guests who prefer giving in alternate ways.

Zoofari plays an intricate role with the ongoing upgrades and improvements for the Zoo, providing much needed dollars. Reservations are not required, and guests are encouraged to share the Zoofari link with friends.

Santa Ana ZOO Welcomes Community to Annual Birthday Bash
Local Neighborhood Zoo to Celebrate 68th Birthday Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15 from 11am – 2 pm

The Santa Ana Zoo, "Home of the 50 Monkeys," announced today that its 68th wild birthday celebration will take place Saturday, March 14 and Sunday, March 15 on the Zoo grounds from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. You came as a kid, now come back with yours! Parking and entertainment are included in the cost of general admission. Zoo members and children under age 3 are free.

Did you know that multiple animals at the Zoo were born in the month of March? Guests will love searching the Zoo for these special party animals and writing birthday greetings to their new friends! Look for giant anteaters, camels, lemurs, ocelots, sloths and the world's smallest monkeys!

SAZOO, the Zoo's resident monkey mascot and honorary OC celebrity, will also be on hand to engage, entertain and take photos with guests. At 12:30 pm each day, Zoo guests will enjoy a ceremony and singing "Happy Birthday" to SAZOO and the Zoo animals, followed by a birthday "enrichment cake" presentation to the PIG!

During the party, birthday guests will love visiting the Crean Family Farm and the Colors of the Amazon Aviary. Zoofari Express Train Ride, Conservation Carrousel and Fifty Monkey Ferris Wheel tickets are available for an additional cost. Children under 3 are free to ride with paid adult on the train and adults standing with children on the Carrousel are free. The Zoo’s conservation friendly playground and multiple picnic areas are also open to guests at no additional charge.

Free Ferris Wheel Fridays at the Santa Ana Zoo Every Friday until February 28, 2020

Cathi Decker, Executive Director of Friends of Santa Ana Zoo (FOSAZ), announced today "Free Ferris Wheel Fridays!" From now until Friday February 28, every Friday, all rides on the Fifty Monkey Ferris Wheel are free to everyone visiting the Santa Ana Zoo!

Come and see the Zoo from above on the Ferris Wheel on Friday for Free! This limited time offer is for the next few months only. If you haven't experienced this uniquely designed Wheel spotlighting the Zoo's 50 Monkey Heritage, this is your chance! No coupon required, everyone will be able to ride the Wheel free of charge from 11 AM to 2 PM every Friday, weather permitting.

The 64-foot Wheel opened to the public last year soaring at the entrance to the Crean Family Farm, placing a signature stamp onto this family favorite area.

Each fully-contained gondola features a unique endangered monkey, furthering the Zoo's dedication to the education of environmental conservation through the preservation of endangered species. Educational graphics telling the story of Joseph Prentice and the Zoo's requirement to house fifty monkeys at all times in order to maintain the land are found along the loading queue-line walkway.

"Having been a part of Friends of Santa Ana Zoo for over eighteen years, the Fifty Monkey Ferris Wheel at the Santa Ana Zoo is one of the most exciting undertakings I have been part of," said FOSAZ Director of Operations, Kevin Jackson. "This attraction has already become a great community icon, serving families from all over Orange County and beyond!"

Save the Date for "Snow Days with the Critters" at the Santa Ana Zoo December 14th and 15th

This year's "Snow Days with the Critters," the Santa Ana Zoo's exciting weekend winter celebration, is on Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15 from 11 AM to 2 PM, rain or shine.

Open to the general public, as well as Zoo members, the annual Snow Day with the Critters experience is included with the price of admission and free to Children 2 and under and members of the Santa Ana Zoo. On Sunday, December 15, Santa Ana residents can visit the Zoo and take part in this event for FREE! Proof of residency is required.

During the two-day event, many Zoo animals will receive icy treats and snow enrichments from our staff, while guests listen to festive music, enjoy the winter decorations, discover how animals adapt to surviving in freezing environments, create cool crafts, and listen to delightful winter stories. There will be a designated area for small children to play with magic "faux" snow, underwritten by Orange/Villa Park Chapter, NCL Inc.

Kona Ice, an ongoing sponsor of Snow Days with the Critters, will also be onsite with delicious and colorful shaved ice for purchase as well as providing icy treats for the animals.

It's Boo Time at the Santa Ana Zoo!
OC's Premier Halloween Event for Kids

Mark your calendars, grab your costumes, and join us for our annual "merry not scary" Boo at the Zoo, OC's Premier Halloween Event for Kids.

The Friends of Santa Ana Zoo present the 29th Annual Boo at the Zoo located at the Santa Ana Zoo. The event will take place from 5:30 PM to 8 PM on Saturday, October 19; Sunday, October 20; Saturday, October 26; and Sunday, October 27, rain or shine.

Boo at the Zoo is one of Orange County's longest-running Halloween events, providing a fun, safe, and family-friendly event for trick-or-treaters and children of all ages who love to wear costumes and embrace the Halloween spirit!

Guests will have the opportunity to explore 10 prize stations on our Trick-or-Treat Trail, enjoy a variety of Halloween-themed games and activities – including storytelling and sing-alongs, and visit with our nocturnal animals. This will be our second year proudly supporting the OC Teal Pumpkin Project, ensuring kids with food allergies are presented with friendly treats and takeaways! Guests will also be able to participate in our nightly costume parade, led by SAZOO (our monkey mascot).

Our exciting "Boofari" Express Train, Conservation Carrousel and Fifty Monkey Ferris Wheel rides will be entertaining little ghouls and goblins all night long. Parents, don't forget your cameras! Boo at the Zoo provides great photo opportunities that will last a lifetime.

General Admission is $24.95 per non-member ages 3 and up, and only $12.95 per Zoo Member ages 3 and up. Bonus: Children under the age of 3 are free. Join as a Member to receive your half price tickets! "Boofari" Express Train, Carrousel and Ferris Wheel rides will be available for an extra charge. Food and drinks will be available for purchase nightly.

Santa Ana Zoo After-Hours & Summer Concert Series 2019 Dates Announced
OC Residents Get Ready to Swing into Summer with a Cool Line Up of Musical Talent and Local Craft Breweries; First Concert is Sunday, June 30th at 5:30 pm

The Santa Ana Zoo's after-hours "Sunsets at the Zoo" & summer concert series are back by popular demand. Sponsored by Guaranty Chevrolet of Santa Ana, the Zoo's first after-hours summer concert and brew-tasting event will take place Sunday, June 30th at 5:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased online at www.fosaz.org or at the gate on the night of the event.

In addition to enjoying live music from local artists and bands under the California sky, Sunsets at the Zoo offers a unique, after-hours experience to see the Home of the 50 Monkeys' animal residents prepare for their evening activities. Guests may also purchase tickets to ride the Zoofari Express Train, 50 Monkey Ferris Wheel, and Conservation Carrousel that evening when the lines are shorter.

During the event, guests can take part in a silent auction and craft brew-tasting experience from a handful of Orange County's finest craft beer brewers (additional charge, valid ID required). Zoo members and guests are encouraged to bring their cameras, pack a picnic or purchase food items at the outdoor concert in the park. All proceeds raised this year will go towards upgrading the primate habitats at the Zoo!

Admission to Sunsets at the Zoo is $19.95 per person ages 3 & up, and $9.95 for FOSAZ Members. Children under 3 are free. The cost to enjoy the Brew at the Zoo tasting experience is an additional $15 donation per person and reserved for adults 21 and over with valid IDs.

Santa Ana Zoo's "Party for the Planet" is May 19
Santa Ana Community Members Receive Free Admission to Annual Event with Proof of Residency; FOSAZ Members Attend Free, Too!

The Santa Ana Zoo, also known as the "Home of the 50 Monkeys," today announced its annual Party for the PlanetTM event taking place Sunday, May 19, 2019, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on the beautiful Santa Ana Zoo grounds. Themed around Earth Day and Endangered Species Day, Party for the Planet represents the largest shared eco-celebration in North America.

Open to the public, Party for the Planet is a fun-filled day that celebrates wildlife while promoting conservation and educating Zoo guests about the different ways they can explore and help protect the environment. The event is FREE for FOSAZ Members and included in the price of general admission. Santa Ana community members with proof of residency are also welcome to join the Zoo's Party for the Planet free of charge.

Throughout the event, Zoo guests can create conservation-themed crafts (including making recycled paper and creating a keychain using old jeans), and play fun games, as well as learn from hands-on demonstrations and education stations featuring animals, recycling, sustainable living, and a variety of special guests including the City of Santa Ana Water Resources Division, Fullerton Arboretum, US Geological Survey, and other community organizations. Guests of all ages will enjoy exploring their way around the Zoo and discovering ways to connect with and protect the natural world around them.

"This year's Party for the Planet event marks the 17th year the Friends of Santa Ana Zoo has hosted an event in honor of Earth Day and Endangered Species Day," said Cathi Decker, Executive Director, FOSAZ.
